Letter of the week - M

Our letter this week is M.

This is a great letter! When we write it, we make a short stick, then two tunnels.

Here are some videos and songs about Mm that we'll be sharing this week.

M is also for Matariki, and this week we'll share our Matariki dinner. We have been sharing lots of Māori legends and singing waiata in preparation for Matariki. Here are some of the songs we've been learning.

Both of these songs talk about the stars shining and glistening in the sky.  We're looking forward to sharing our matariki dinner with you all.

Pushes and pulls

This term, our science focus has been on forces and in particular, pushes and pulls.
We have had some fun with this, and have used this topic to experiment, to explore measurement, and to share with the rest of our syndicate.

We especially loved singing along and dancing to this song about gravity:

We also really enjoyed the digger visit, where we watched the digger pull and push the dirt on the playground.

In our class, we made helicopters, and thought about why they dropped to the ground....

We measured how far a car travelled on rough and smooth surfaces....

And then we experimented and thought about different ways to move a heavy object....we had some great ideas about this!

Welcome to Room 3's blog!

We have a had a busy time this term as we all get to know each other, and learn about being at school.

Here are some of the things we have been doing:

We all tried our best at the school cross country...

And we went planting at the Pharazyn Estate for Arbor day...

A digger came to school so that we could watch the pushes and pulls!

We have tried lots of new things and met new friends in Discovery Time.

And we've done a lot of other learning too.....here we are putting things in order....

                                                      and matching numbers and groups.
