Trip to see the roadworks

We were very lucky with the weather for our trip to see the new bridge being built. We were also very lucky to have so many parents join us!

We drove to the end of the road and walked down the path. Sarah and Lisa who work at the roadworks met us, and made sure we stayed safe.
We spotted the roadworks from the path....
It's exciting!

Sarah told us about staying safe, and what we were going to see.
Sarah was excited to show us all the amazing machines...
Sarah took us along the path and showed us the BIGGEST CRANE in New Zealand!! It was BIG!

Wow! This crane weighs 200 tonnes.

Sarah asked us to think of a name for the crane....
Then we looked at the piles that will hold the bridge up. The cages will go into the ground and they will be filled up with concrete from 50 trucks!

Then Sarah showed us some pictures so we could think about what the bridge will look like when it's finished....

Letter of the week - Ff

This week our letter is Ff.

We're going to be looking carefully at each other when we make this sound, so that we learn the difference between the /f/ sound and the /th/ sound.

When you you make an /f/, your teeth sit on top of your lips.....with a /th/, you poke your tongue out!

Maybe this week we'll figure out 'what does the fox say?'

Letter of the week - h

This week the letter of the week is Hh!

Some of us have had this as our letter of the week before, but it's such a great letter, that we're going to do it again. Lots of people in Room 3 have this letter in their name.

Here are some videos and songs to share.

We're going to have a happy letter Hh week!

Week seven

What a busy week we have had! There are some very tired people in our class at the moment.

On Wednesday, the whole school was excited to welcome some of the players from the Phoenix football team. Lots of people wore yellow and black to show their support.

The on Thursday, we all had a big walk in the sunshine to Mahara place. We watched the children from ABC as they displayed their wearable art creations. They were amazing!

We were all pretty tired out after we came back, we had to have a little rest, but we perked up after we had our lunch! Thanks so much to all the parents who came on our walk with us.

We finished off our week with a busy Discovery time, making wearable arts, orange porcupines and new friends.
