Term 3 week 2

Our letter this week is the letter C

Our handwriting programme is based on the story of Amelia Ant who crawls along her 'Ant tracks' (the lines on the page). The letter C is her 'open mouth' - she's a hungry ant.

Here are the songs and videos we'll be looking at this week.

We will be meeting Harold the Giraffe this week in the Life Education truck. He'll be helping us learn about playing safely together and getting along together. This will be really helpful for us all as we make new friends in Room 3 and throughout the school. Meeting Harold is going to be heaps of fun!

As always, if you have any 'letter of the week' items to share, please bring them along for our letter table.

Letter of the Week - S

Term three is here, and our letter of the week for week one is S.

The letter S can be tricky, so when we are practicing at home, it would be great if you could remind us to start in the right place and which way to go first. Thinking about starting at the snakes head is a good way to help us to remember how to get it right.

This week we will be looking at these Letter S clips and songs as we think about what sound S makes, and what things begin with S.

If you have any fun 'S' objects at home, we'd love to share them on our letter table.

Matariki

Our Matariki celebrations were a lovely way to finish off Term 2. We've all really enjoyed learning our Waiata and sharing legends.

This amazing sand art tells the story of Ranginui and Papatuanuku.

We had a fantastic time at our Matariki dinner, we had a wonderful shared supper and it was nice to have the chance to share time together as friends and whanau.

We also had a lovely winter walk up to the Mahara Gallery. We are very fast walkers, and we were so fast that we got to Mahara place before the Gallery opened!

We sat in the sun with our friends from Room 16 and waited for 10am.....Then we looked at the beautiful weaving and other Matariki art.

Helen Forrest very kindly came and spoke to us about her artwork. She told us the story of Susie the Morepork at the annual Mousehunters Ball.

Thanks so much to the parents who came with us and made our trip possible.
