Matariki

Our Matariki celebrations were a lovely way to finish off Term 2. We've all really enjoyed learning our Waiata and sharing legends.

This amazing sand art tells the story of Ranginui and Papatuanuku.

We had a fantastic time at our Matariki dinner, we had a wonderful shared supper and it was nice to have the chance to share time together as friends and whanau.

We also had a lovely winter walk up to the Mahara Gallery. We are very fast walkers, and we were so fast that we got to Mahara place before the Gallery opened!

We sat in the sun with our friends from Room 16 and waited for 10am.....Then we looked at the beautiful weaving and other Matariki art.

Helen Forrest very kindly came and spoke to us about her artwork. She told us the story of Susie the Morepork at the annual Mousehunters Ball.

Thanks so much to the parents who came with us and made our trip possible.
